For over 14 years, Lauríel Rivera-Stone has stood at the threshold of life, witnessing, guiding, and protecting women and families through one of life’s most powerful rites: birth. As an Indigenous Black Latina midwife, womb healer, and ancestral wisdom keeper, Lauríel has devoted her life to reclaiming the sacred, the ceremonial, and the deeply physiological power of the womb space.
Formally trained at Birthwise Midwifery School, Lauríel’s clinical expertise was sharpened under the mentorship of naturopathic doctors and skilled midwives, where she learned to walk the delicate balance between clinical safety and honoring the spiritual wisdom encoded in every woman’s body. Over the years, she has served families across hospitals, birth centers, and home birth settings — always with an unwavering commitment to informed consent, safety, cultural reverence, and empowerment.
Now stepping into a new season of her work, Lauríel is answering the call to offer her medicine beyond clinical birth attendance. While she continues to serve a small number of repeat families for home birth, her greater work is now devoted to teaching, mentoring, and guiding women into deeper relationship with their wombs, their bodies, their ancestral memory, and the sacred mysteries of feminine rites of passage.
Through her private practice Awakening Traditions, Lauríel offers womb-centered mentorship, ceremonial healing, preconception care, pregnancy loss support, rites of passage ceremonies, and educational offerings through her growing temple community: The Way of the Womb. Whether she is preparing a mother for conception, tending to grief after loss, guiding a Closing of the Bones ceremony, or teaching the next generation of midwives, Lauríel carries forward the voices of her ancestors — those who remind us that birth is ceremony, and womanhood is power.
Her work weaves together evidence-based care, indigenous traditions, plant medicine, midwifery science, energy work, and sacred feminine embodiment to serve women in all stages of life. She is both clinical and cosmic, walking the beautiful edge of science, ceremony, and soul.
Reindigenizing womb work. Restoring feminine leadership. Remembering what was never meant to be forgotten.
Before colonization touched our bodies, the womb was ceremony. The midwife was priestess. The birthkeeper was medicine woman.
Birth is not meant to be controlled.
It is meant to be honored.

The world has taught us to fear this power — but we are here to remember. To reclaim. To rise. Like the jaguar that prowls untamed in the rainforest, so too does the wild feminine pulse within you.
